LUCEFERMA: a Mediterranean Bar between Porta Vittoria and Cinque Giornate
Via Amatore Sciesa 6. Breakfast, lunch, aperitivo and a small gallery. A few minutes from two HÕMA properties.
LUCEFERMA — Via Amatore Sciesa 6, Milan
New openings in Milan arrive at a pace that's almost comic. Many are interesting as concepts, beautiful to photograph, easy to write about for the first ten days. Then the real test comes: consistency. Service, quality, whether you'd actually go back.
We went to LUCEFERMA — a new opening at Via Amatore Sciesa 6, a short walk from both HÕMA 22 Marzo and HÕMA Cinque Giornate.
Almost equidistant from both properties, which makes it immediately useful for our guests: right for a proper breakfast, a quick but considered lunch, or an aperitivo at the end of a long day.
The space
LUCEFERMA calls itself a Mediterranean Bar, and the description holds. It's not just a bar and it's not exactly a restaurant: a luminous, warm, well-designed space with an offer that moves through different moments of the day from breakfast to aperitivo.
The environment is one of its strongest points. Design that's considered but not cold. Contemporary lines with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. And then there's the artistic dimension: LUCEFERMA doubles as a small gallery, with works and installations that make it more interesting than the standard "nice because beige" category of venue — which has become both dominant and mildly alarming.
The Sicilian window installation has already become one of the most photographed corners of the place. We didn't resist either. Consistency is important, but occasionally Instagram demands its tribute.
The food
Fast, precise service. Excellent pastries. Lunch dishes that are genuinely good — the kind of stop that works for a quick break without feeling like a compromise. Exactly the type of address we like recommending to guests: easy to reach, pleasant, carefully done, no ceremony required.
Order the granita with brioche. For a few minutes it genuinely feels like Sicily — which in Milan is already a small logistical and sentimental miracle.
The neighbourhood
LUCEFERMA also works because it sits in a part of Milan that has considerably more character than it's usually given credit for. Between Porta Vittoria, Piazza Cinque Giornate and Via Amatore Sciesa, the city stays central but less obvious — elegant but lived-in, convenient but not anonymous.
For guests staying at our hotels who want to start the day well, LUCEFERMA is one of the addresses worth noting.
