There is a version of hospitality that equates comfort with quantity: more services, more formalities, more steps, more people to meet before you finally reach your room.

We started with a different question: what does someone actually need when staying in Milan?

A thoughtful, quiet room. A comfortable bed. Reliable Wi-Fi. Information that is easy to find. The freedom to arrive without wasting time. And someone to message when help is needed.

Nothing spectacular, perhaps. But getting the essentials right is far less simple than it sounds.

Comfort is not an endless list of amenities

At HÕMA, comfort does not mean adding things simply because people expect to find them in a hotel. It means choosing what genuinely makes a stay better.

A room should be clean, functional and well organised. Lights should be where they are needed. Power sockets should be within reach. Wi-Fi should work. The bed should allow you to truly rest, even while Milan keeps moving outside.

These details are not particularly showy. They rarely become the focus of a photograph, but they make the difference between a room that looks good and one that feels good to stay in.

Technology should remove steps

Technology in hospitality only makes sense when it makes something simpler.

Self check-in gives guests more freedom to arrive without depending on a queue or a lengthy procedure. WhatsApp support makes it possible to ask a question, receive directions or solve a problem through a tool most of us already use every day.

We are not interested in using technology to replace hospitality. We use it to remove waiting, repetition and unnecessary steps.

Independence does not mean being left on your own.

Hospitality does not have a single form

HÕMA properties are not all identical, because neither are their neighbourhoods, buildings or the people who choose them.

Some properties offer a more independent experience. Others also provide a more traditional form of welcome.

HÕMA 22 Marzo, for example, has a staffed reception from 7:00am to 2:00am. During the overnight window, from 2:00am to 7:00am, arrivals are handled through self check-in.

This combination provides an extended physical presence without restricting arrival times. Across every property, the goal remains the same: guests should immediately understand what to do and know where to find support when they need it.

Five properties, five ways to experience Milan

HÕMA Collection is built around the idea that the neighbourhood is an integral part of the stay. There is no single best property: there is the one that best suits the journey you are taking.

Zero hassle does not mean zero people

When we talk about “zero hassle”, we do not imagine hospitality that feels cold or distant.

We imagine a stay where you do not need to ask for the same information three times. An arrival that does not become an obstacle course. A room that is easy to understand. Support that is present without becoming intrusive.

Hospitality is not measured by the number of formalities. It is measured by the ability to make someone feel at ease in a place they do not know yet.

Sometimes a conversation at reception is needed. Sometimes a message is enough. At other times, the best thing we can do is let a guest enter the room, put down their suitcase and rest.

Understanding the difference is part of our job.

Small hotels, done well

HÕMA Collection brings together different properties across five Milan neighbourhoods around one shared principle: doing the things that matter well.

Essential design, genuine comfort and simple processes. Because the stay should be the easy part of the journey.

Hospitality works when you can focus on Milan, not on the procedures required to stay there.
