Where to eat in the Certosa District in Milan | HõMA Guide

Where to eat in the Certosa District: 15 selected addresses

In four years the Certosa District has gone from a forgotten industrial area to one of the most interesting food quadrants in northwest Milan. A MICHELIN star, a contemporary pizzeria, a specialty coffee bakery, family trattorias, and real ethnic cuisine.

This is our personal selection, organized by occasion. The same one we send via WhatsApp to our guests the day before arrival.

For breakfast and specialty coffee

Loste Café - Via Varesina 204

Contemporary bakery and specialty coffee. The neighborhood's go-to address for quality coffee and next-generation yeast breads. Open all day for breakfast, brunch and light lunch. Busy on weekday mornings.

Crust - Certosa District

Sourdough breads, sweet leavens, small selection for lunch. Also works well for those who want to take something to the office or facility.

For quick lunch

Street Smash Burger - Certosa District

Smash burger in full New York style: crushed meat on the griddle, crispy outside, juicy inside. Truffle fries, street vibe. Perfect for a quick lunch between dates.

Loste Café - Via Varesina 204

Also works for lunch: salads, flatbreads, daily specials. Fast, quality, no compromise on coffee.

For formal or important business dinner

Abba 1 ✦ MICHELIN - Via Varesina 177

1 MICHELIN star (MICHELIN Italy Guide 2026). Chef Fabio Abbattista. Contemporary Italian cuisine with clear identity: essentiality, raw material, technique. Only 8 tables. The address in the neighborhood when the moment counts: dinner with important clients, scientific committee, partners to impress. Reservations required, especially on weekends.

Lafa - Certosa District

Project by Hyppolite Vautrin, contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. Research on raw materials and natural wines. More informal than Abba but with the same seriousness of proposal.

For casual business dinner or with the team

Generous Must - Via Monte Generoso 53

Neighborhood bistro with well-crafted Italian cuisine and honest wine list. Suitable for away team tables or business dinners without the need for star-studded formality.

Ebramo - 10 Tavazzano Street

Contemporary trattoria, fine raw material, relaxed atmosphere. For dinners with colleagues when you want to sit at the table and chat without anxious schedules.

Wémá Certosa - Certosa District

Contemporary pizzeria: light dough, pronounced crust, refined ingredients. The choice for easy but not obvious dining. Great for groups.

For quiet dinner - home away from home

Rizzo Come A Casa - Via Varesina 163

Family run, home cooking with strong Calabrian influences. Homemade pasta, generous portions, honest bill. The place to go when you want real food without designer pretensions.

Nonna Vittoria - Via Varesina 163

Same street, same register: family cooking, no-frills atmosphere, substance on the plate. Popular address in the neighborhood.

Trattoria Prima Di Tutto - 28 Panfilo Nuvolone Street

Classic Milanese neighborhood trattoria. For those who want the honest Italian experience without choreography.

For ethnic and diverse cuisine

Effatà - Marcus Ulpius Trajan Street 60

Authentic Eritrean cuisine, among the most interesting addresses in the area. Different experience, for those who want to break the routine of the Italian menu.

La Maison Touareg - Certosa District

Moroccan cuisine with intimate atmosphere. Tajine, cous cous, mint tea ceremony. Far from industrial ethnic restaurants.

For aperitif and after-dinner drinks

Shallo Certosa - Via Varesina 189

Appetizers, craft beers, after-work drinks. Informal atmosphere, frequented by neighborhood professionals.

Nomad - Certosa District

Concept space that blends dining and music with DJ sets. International atmosphere, for when aperitif turns into evening.

Why the Certosa District is becoming interesting

In recent years, the district has undergone an urban regeneration project of more than 100,000 square meters. In addition to the conversion of former industrial areas into offices, a significant part of the development is also devoted to new food and hospitality spaces.

The result is already visible: a MICHELIN star, a contemporary pizzeria among the best in northwest Milan, a specialty coffee bakery among the busiest in the area, and a network of historic trattorias that maintain their own identity.

For those visiting Milan for work at MIND, La Forgiatura, Allianz MiCo or Rho Fiera, is the city's least expected food district.
